beamer2pptx

Left: the original Beamer PDF. Right: the converted PPTX opened in Microsoft PowerPoint, shown without retouching. Fidelity varies by document, but the objects are always real, not a picture of the page.
An agent Skill that rebuilds a Beamer PDF as an editable PowerPoint deck: real text boxes, shapes and native equations, not a screenshot of each slide pasted into a .pptx wrapper. The compiled PDF is the reference for layout; verified LaTeX supplies the math.
Use it to revise a LaTeX presentation in PowerPoint: update wording, move slide elements, or fix an equation without rebuilding the deck from source.
What you can expect
| PDF content | PowerPoint result |
|---|---|
| Titles, paragraphs and labels | Editable text boxes matching the original layout. Font availability affects the match. |
| Panels, lines and supported vector artwork | Editable shapes and paths. Complex artwork may become several objects. |
| Photographs and other bitmap images | Separate movable, resizable pictures; their internal content stays non-editable. |
| Formulas with verified LaTeX | Native Office Math equations, editable in PowerPoint's equation editor. Complete equation rows stay together. |
| Formulas without verified LaTeX | Editable characters where extraction permits, with reduced semantic editability flagged, not hidden. |
| PDF hyperlinks and Beamer navigation | Clickable links and supported slideshow actions, mapped to PowerPoint's equivalents. |
The conversion aims to keep page count, proportions, placement, colors and typography. Math symbols are sized against your compiled PDF, including inline versus display operators, rather than forced to one standard size.
Beamer themes, fonts and custom macros vary, so exact visual equivalence isn't guaranteed for every document. TikZ artwork doesn't become editable source or a data chart, overlay pages stay separate slides rather than recovered animations, and unusual glyphs, transparency or clipping may need a manual look.
Use the Skill
In Codex, request installation:
Install the Skill from https://github.com/xdmlxdml/beamer2pptx/tree/main/beamer2pptx
Then invoke it with your PDF:
Use $beamer2pptx to convert main.pdf into an editable main.pptx.
Use main.tex as the formula source. Preserve the PDF's layout and symbol sizes,
and validate the result in Microsoft PowerPoint before delivery.
Required: the compiled PDF. Recommended: the .tex source, macro definitions and custom fonts. A PDF alone is enough to start; the agent explains any formula it can't confidently reconstruct instead of guessing.
This is an agent workflow, not a one-click converter — it needs file/command access, Python dependencies, Pandoc for native equations, and the @oai/artifact-tool presentation runtime. See runtime requirements. Other agent hosts need equivalent tooling and may require adaptation.
Validation and delivery
The Skill checks editable objects and package structure, compares slides with the source, and is directed to open the final file in Microsoft PowerPoint, inspect every slide, and test equations and navigation. Where supported, operator sizes are measured against PowerPoint's own PDF export.
You receive the PPTX with a short account of what was validated and what wasn't. If PowerPoint is unavailable, the result is labeled an unverified draft; rendering correctly in WPS or another app doesn't stand in for a PowerPoint compatibility check.
