This release improves Git authentication, Windows compatibility, and SSH responsiveness. It also reduces background fetch overhead, fixes pane shortcuts after switching tasks, and adds an in-app signup for Emdash 2.0 early access.

Highlights
  • The project's Git credentials setting now applies to Emdash's own local Git operations, including push, pull, and fetch. Choosing System uses the machine's credentials, while an account explicitly selected for an operation still takes precedence.
  • Join the Emdash 2.0 waitlist directly from the sidebar, with your email and an optional note about your team or workflow. The card can be dismissed for the current release.
Fixes
  • Commit & Push and other Git network operations on Windows authenticate correctly through the connected account, fixing failures where pushing from a terminal worked but pushing from Emdash did not.
  • Agent hooks on Windows run correctly when launched through Git Bash, including Claude Code hooks. Prompt and assistant text passed to hooks is no longer misinterpreted as shell commands.
  • Windows builds resolve the bundled SSH dependency correctly, fixing a module-loading error reported in v1.2.10.
  • SSH connections send handshake and interactive traffic without waiting for TCP buffering, improving responsiveness when connecting to and working on remote machines.
  • Background Git fetches wait after the previous fetch finishes and back off when a repository is slow. Fetches also avoid unnecessary metadata writes and automatic maintenance, reducing disk work and contention with other Git operations.
  • Self-hosted Git integrations correctly match remotes that use custom HTTP or HTTPS ports, including Forgejo instances.
  • Pane shortcuts remain active after switching tasks or projects when a terminal or input has already received focus.

Emdash v1.2.10

Read full notes

This release lets you trust repositories that Git refuses because of their ownership, stops background processes from opening console windows on Windows, and keeps large repositories responsive. It also fixes Clean Artifacts, Git SSH configuration, credential handling, and panel sizes. Remote machines get these fixes once you update their workspace server in Settings > Machines.

Highlights
  • When Git refuses a repository because another user owns it, such as a repository in a WSL folder, Add Project explains why and shows the Git command to run yourself. Trust Repository adds that one folder to your global Git configuration after confirmation, which also applies to agents and terminals. For SSH projects, the entry is written on the remote machine.
  • On Windows, Git, agents, SSH connections, and other background processes no longer open console windows or Windows Terminal tabs.
  • Changed-file diffs load while background Git work runs and show a loading state or error instead of a blank pane. If a reload fails, the last loaded diff stays visible and read-only until it recovers.
  • The Workspaces tab measures disk usage much faster, counts worktrees inside their repository only once, reuses results for five minutes, and stops scanning when you leave the view.
  • Creating tasks on large repositories, re-provisioning, deleting tasks and workspaces, updating pull request checkouts, and other long-running workspace operations no longer fail after 30 seconds while the machine is still working on them.
Fixes
  • Clean Artifacts in the Workspaces tab removes ignored build output in place instead of removing the worktree. Tracked files, uncommitted and untracked changes, local .env files, files matching your preserve patterns, nested workspaces, and linked tasks all stay. Emdash won't clean a workspace while agents or terminals are running in it, and the action is available for local workspaces.
  • Clones and other Git operations use the core.sshCommand from your Git configuration, so SSH key routers and per-host keys work.
  • Git credential requests bypass proxy settings. When a credential read fails, for example in a tmux session reattached after Emdash restarted, Git prints the reason before prompting.
  • New tmux tasks get their own environment and no longer inherit stale variables or credentials from earlier sessions. Credential tokens and environment values stay out of process arguments, where other users on a shared machine could read them.
  • Creating a worktree recovers from worktrees deleted outside Emdash without running git worktree prune by hand. Git failures show Git's message instead of a bare exit code, with credential URLs and tokens removed. Deleting a worktree whose branch is already gone succeeds.
  • The sidebars and terminal drawer keep the size you set when the window resizes, including when a tiling window manager rearranges windows, and return to it after a small window grows again.
  • When the default branch can't be resolved, Create Task explains that you need to select a branch in workspace settings. Automations show the same reason, and changing an automation's schedule saves only the schedule.
  • On Linux and Windows with Watchman running, Emdash watches Git metadata with the system file watcher, so Watchman no longer crawls the .git directory.
  • Agents on Windows no longer create a stray %SystemDrive%\ProgramData folder tree in their working directory, and they receive the system and program folder variables that .NET and NuGet need.
  • The Linux .deb and .rpm packages declare ALSA and GBM as dependencies, so the app starts on minimal installs.
  • Crash-loop recovery shows why the most recent launch failed.
  • Stored notifications are trimmed to the newest 500 on launch, as intended.

Read full notes

This release adds GitLab repository and merge request workflows, with browser and device sign-in for GitLab.com. It also adds support for Apple silicon Mac remotes and improves terminal links, account reconnection, and project dialogs.

Highlights
  • Create GitLab repositories in personal namespaces or existing groups, including nested groups, and publish an existing project through Add Remote. Connected self-hosted instances are supported, and task creation uses GitLab's work-item terminology.
  • Browse, create, and merge GitLab merge requests from Emdash. View approvals, pipeline jobs, discussions, commits, and changed files, mark drafts ready, and start or review tasks from merge requests, including those from forks.
  • Connect GitLab.com through your Emdash account or with a device code, with automatic token renewal. Device sign-in stays inside the connection dialog with copy, open, retry, and cancel controls. Self-hosted GitLab instances continue to use access tokens.
  • Remote workspace server installation now supports Apple silicon Macs using the tools included with macOS. Terminal sessions on those hosts start correctly after installation.
Fixes
  • Wrapped terminal hyperlinks open their full destination, including links printed by Claude Code. Copy Link uses the hyperlink's destination or joins lines wrapped by the terminal, while normal selection copying preserves line breaks and keeps separate URLs apart.
  • Clicking a terminal hyperlink opens it locally without also asking the remote agent to launch a browser. Link handling preserves text selection and cancels pending clicks when dragging or switching focus. IPv6 URLs retain their closing brackets.
  • Long directory paths stay within project dialogs, keeping the directory chooser visible at narrow window widths.
  • Add Remote creates an empty repository before publishing the current branch, preserving existing history. Repository creation, fetching, and publishing consistently use the selected account.
  • Creating a task from a branch opens the workspace settings directly, with no issue or merge request preselected.
  • GitLab merge request reviews recover missing commits from the correct source, including fork merge requests. Refreshing the merge request list retains cached details, and unavailable diff counts remain unknown instead of appearing as zero.
  • Expiring integration credentials renew before Git operations use them. Tokens replaced on another device are refreshed after rejection, and temporary renewal failures can be retried.
  • Reconnecting preserves the selected account, and background token renewal cannot restore a disconnected account or overwrite a newer connection. Cancelled device sign-in saves nothing, and newly issued tokens are retried if the provider briefly rejects them.

Read full notes

This release adds language intelligence to the editor, subscription usage meters, and YouTrack integration. It also brings diff comments to chat and improves file browsing, agent status, and desktop integration.

Highlights
  • The editor adds hover information, definitions, type definitions, references, and diagnostics for local and SSH workspaces. JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python language servers are bundled; additional servers support Bash, Go, Rust, C/C++, JSON, YAML, HTML, and CSS dialects. Language service status and restart controls are available in the file tab menu.
  • A new Usage page in settings shows remaining Codex and Claude Code subscription allowances, reset countdowns, and refresh controls. Shared accounts appear once across machines, and stale or unavailable readings are clearly marked.
  • Connect YouTrack Cloud or self-hosted instances with a permanent token, search tickets using YouTrack queries, and start tasks with ticket descriptions and comments. Ticket context includes up to the latest 100 accessible comments and uses readable ticket identifiers.
  • Attach draft diff comments to chat through the “Diff comments” item in the @ menu. Comments are cleared only after confirmed delivery, while failed sends and comments edited during submission remain pending.
  • Jira setup now offers a choice between email and API token or a manually supplied bearer access token.
  • Branch Commits can switch between a flat file list and a nested tree, with its own saved view preference.
Fixes
  • File browsing shares live folder listings across views and updates changed folders without rebuilding the entire tree. Folder expansion, drag-hover, and new-file placement are more reliable, names sort naturally, and files named __proto__ remain visible and editable.
  • Language services preserve unsaved edits across restarts and reconnects. Built-in editor support remains available where supported when a language server is unavailable, and language service or usage worker failures no longer block host startup.
  • Switching back to a task keeps terminal and agent dimensions in sync, preventing misplaced cursors, clipped lines, and overdrawn frames. Hidden panes no longer produce invalid terminal grid sizes.
  • Cursor and OpenCode working indicators clear correctly when agents finish or stop, including OpenCode sessions using custom providers. Chat resumes its working indicator after permission approval and ignores late prompt results after a session closes.
  • Chat preserves prices, literal HTML and XML, and inline math source instead of hiding text or showing empty message cards. Claude monitor events appear as passive notifications without interrupting active turns or duplicating screen-reader output.
  • Hidden issue and review context stays out of replayed chat transcripts. Draft diff comments remain visible when switching files or when the editor finishes loading.
  • SSH connections support OpenSSH user certificates supplied by the SSH agent. Reconnection logs include the underlying error instead of an unreadable object value.
  • Installed-app detection on macOS avoids application chooser prompts and recognizes GUI-only apps. Failed checks can be retried, and Windows detection respects custom installation directories.
  • Opening remote workspaces in VS Code, VSCodium, or Cursor requests a new window. “Open in Terminal” on Linux tries the user's default terminal before falling back to common terminal applications.
  • Merge commits show files changed against their first parent. Project and workspace inspection preserve Git errors instead of treating failed repository checks as ordinary directories.
  • Agent installation shows all supported options for the current platform, including WinGet for Claude Code on Windows.

Read full notes

This release remembers agent settings across tasks, adds native provider controls to the chat composer, and improves session recovery. It also makes update downloads, project opening, and conversation navigation more reliable.

Highlights
  • Chat remembers your model, effort, access mode, and other provider settings across tasks and projects, with separate preferences for each agent and machine. New automations inherit these preferences and retain their own saved settings for scheduled runs.
  • Switch between Chat UI and TUI directly in the agent selector. Your interface choice is remembered across agents, projects, and machines.
  • Task creation and active chat use the provider's available configuration options, including a fast-mode toggle where supported. Chat permissions follow the provider's native access mode, and TUI auto-approval is remembered separately.
  • Claude's model picker adds Opus 5.5, and Codex adds GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna. Model choices use the identifiers supported by each agent so selections carry through to the session correctly.
Fixes
  • Missing ACP sessions can be retried or replaced with a fresh session in the same conversation, preserving drafts and selected settings. Sessions that never started recover automatically when the provider confirms they are missing.
  • Initial prompts survive failed startup preparation and worker restarts. Transcripts remain visible while sessions reconnect and reload their history.
  • Cached composer settings remain visible during startup, and failed preference saves show a warning. Changing shared preferences leaves existing conversations and saved automations unchanged.
  • Notification clicks focus or reopen the correct conversation tab, including chats in another pane, without creating a blank terminal tab.
  • Update downloads keep their progress when navigating away from settings or when a request times out. Failures show readable messages, retry controls, and expandable diagnostics that can be copied with credentials redacted.
  • Agent discovery avoids repeated checks, and local project opening retries temporary timeouts. Cancelled or failed initialization cleans up background work without interrupting existing task sessions.
  • Imports from v0 preserve workspace paths, remote conversation locations, and valid Claude session resume information.
  • File links in chat open the editor at the referenced line number.
  • POSIX paths retain forward-slash separators and preserve literal backslashes in filenames.
  • CSV previews retain an empty quoted row at the end of a file, even without a trailing newline.

Read full notes

This release restores file drops and image pastes in remote terminals, adds OpenCode v2 status support, and detects IPv6 preview servers. It also improves search results, agent session restoration, and desktop integration.

Highlights
  • Drop local files or paste images into remote agent terminals and shells. Files upload to the machine running the session before their paths are inserted, with progress and error feedback.
  • OpenCode v2 reports working, completion, and error status through native hooks. Interrupted runs return to idle, and session tracking remains compatible with earlier OpenCode versions.
  • Preview detection recognizes IPv6 loopback URLs such as http://[::1]:3000, with correctly formatted links in the preview server list.
Fixes
  • File drops into Claude Code terminals retain the full path instead of leaving only a space. Image pastes avoid duplicate attachments, and pending transfers are cancelled when their target pane or session changes.
  • Stored attachments remain available across session shutdowns, workspace deactivation, and restarts without expiring by age. Incomplete uploads are cleaned up after crashes, and deleting a conversation or workspace also cleans up its stored attachments.
  • Antigravity resumes the correct native conversation instead of starting a fresh session with a “conversation not found” warning.
  • Search removes duplicate and stale results for projects, tasks, and conversations. Deleting a project also removes its tasks and conversations from search.
  • Commit file lists and working-tree diffs preserve filenames containing Unicode, quotes, tabs, or other special characters, including renamed and copied files.
  • The in-app browser keeps a successfully loaded page visible when an embedded iframe fails to load.
  • Remote workspace creation retries failed home-directory lookups after a host reconnects, avoiding persistent “unusable runtime” errors.
  • macOS Option-arrow shortcuts retain their native behavior in terminal agents while shell panes keep word navigation.
  • Linux launcher and window identities match correctly on Wayland and X11, keeping dock grouping consistent and preserving existing pins for stable and canary builds.
  • Agent settings and the agent selector show installation guide links, and link icons are placed consistently.

Read full notes

This release adds multiple accounts per integration, custom agent executable selection, and more control over the workbench. It also makes ACP conversations, task archiving, and remote connections more reliable.

Highlights
  • Connect multiple accounts for each integration, choose a default, and select which account each project uses. Account choices carry through project creation, issue browsing, and pull request workflows.
  • Choose an agent executable by path or command name in settings, validate it before saving, and use that selection when launching agents. Custom wrapper scripts are supported, including PowerShell wrappers on Windows.
  • Hide the Emdash menu bar or system tray icon from Interface settings.
  • Newly opened file diffs scroll directly to the first change, while previously viewed diffs retain their saved position.
  • Codex adds a curl installation option on macOS and Linux, and MCP startup failures appear in the chat composer's server list with error details.
Fixes
  • ACP transcripts keep pending prompts and live responses visible as turns finish and history loads. Scroll position and session settings survive history refreshes, and background agent events update the correct turn.
  • Failed session restores preserve saved conversations and show recoverable errors. Agent sign-in remains accessible, and terminal startup failures no longer disrupt the ACP worker.
  • Each conversation retains its prompt draft, text selection, undo history, and composer scroll position when switching tabs. Empty chats keep the composer centered during startup.
  • Archiving runs teardown scripts when possible and remains available when a remote host is offline. Restoring archived tasks works across repeated archive and restore cycles, and cleanup state stays consistent across restarts.
  • Workspace lookup uses current saved state, avoiding stale “workspace not found” errors. Conversation lists recover after missed updates, and closing a conversation tab clears its attention indicator.
  • Pull request details refresh reliably after runtime recovery, and CI results stay tied to the current commit. Staged and unstaged file lists remain stable during background Git updates.
  • SSH-config connections allow authentication and private key overrides. Testing and saving use the same credentials, and saved passwords and passphrases are reused only for the matching connection or key.
  • Routine remote connection checks no longer cause status flicker or interrupt terminal input. Git credentials also remain available to child processes, including editor extensions.
  • Muse Code and Antigravity report working and completion status through native hooks. Codex approval settings parse correctly on Windows, and Devin handles compound shell commands correctly.
  • macOS Option-arrow shortcuts navigate shell words correctly, and tmux startup handles terminal capability queries more reliably.
  • Localhost links offer the usual choice to open in Emdash or an external browser. Pane focus preserves scroll position, sidebar task reordering stays accurate after auto-scroll, and panels remain clickable over the title bar.
  • Project opening failures show actionable errors, including invalid remote default branches. Crash recovery also offers an explicit option to reset saved UI state and reload.

This release makes ACP conversations easier to follow and more reliable to use, especially across remote reconnections. It also adds Muse Code, project renaming, and several agent and provider improvements.

Highlights
  • Agent activity is easier to scan: related thinking blocks are grouped, consecutive tool calls collapse into “Ran N commands,” and command rows use compact, descriptive headings.
  • Rename projects directly from the project header or sidebar menu.
  • Muse Code is now available as a coding agent, and CodeBuddy Code adds lifecycle hooks for accurate status, session, error, and permission notifications.
  • Codex adds GPT-6 Astra to its model options, and OpenCode can connect to OrcaRouter as a named OpenAI-compatible provider.
  • The chat composer now shows the selected model effort beside the model name.
Fixes
  • Prompt queuing works correctly while an ACP agent is active. Drafts are preserved across tab changes and delivery failures, and prompts clear only after the agent accepts them.
  • Remote projects and conversations recover more reliably after sleep, network interruptions, and workspace-server reconnects. Transcript history reloads correctly, and connection status remains stable during recovery.
  • Terminal and TUI-agent sessions use readable, identity-backed tmux names and recover the correct process more reliably, including after idle periods.
  • Pull request status refreshes consistently, repositories are polled every minute, and requested or startup-failed CI checks are classified correctly.
  • External symlink targets can be browsed in the file tree, while diff buffers remain read-only and file references from agent transcripts open at the reported line.
  • SSH connections respect filtered agent identities, and macOS can request local-network access when connecting to machines over LAN SSH.
  • Project migrations handle legacy workspace identity conflicts without interrupting registry sync.
  • The in-app browser favicon, external-link dialog, task-tab cursor, collapsed plans, and prompt-editor links now behave consistently.

This release adds Prime Agent, project-level environment variables, drag-to-split panes, and native Linux ARM64 builds. It also refreshes the workbench and file tree while improving file watching, search, and restored sessions.

Highlights
  • Prime Agent is now available as a coding agent, with native ACP chat, resumable sessions, MCP servers, and Emdash hooks.
  • Define environment variables in project settings and apply them consistently to agents, terminals, and lifecycle scripts.
  • Drag a tab to any edge of a pane to create a split and place it there. Tab bars and the terminal drawer also have a cleaner, flatter design.
  • The file explorer now carries Git status colors up to parent folders, making changed files easier to locate.
  • Claude adds Opus 5 and Fable 5.1 support.
  • Native Linux packages are now built for both x64 and ARM64 in AppImage, DEB, and RPM formats.
Fixes
  • File search and file watching recover more reliably from failed or cancelled watchers, honor exclusion settings, and avoid holding inactive workspaces open.
  • Git repositories remain usable if a watcher cannot attach, and repository scans do less redundant work.
  • Restored terminal-agent sessions recover correctly after an app restart.
  • Markdown reference links and images render correctly, and wide tables can scroll horizontally.
  • The chat composer keeps the caret visible across line breaks, while mention and other selection popovers stay within the viewport.
  • Project directory browsing, task-specific sidebar widths, terminal theme changes, and empty terminal drawers now behave consistently.
  • Linux secure storage is configured before startup, and Windows agent launching prefers the correct executable shim.

This release adds Plan mode to Codex chat and improves remote development over Tailscale SSH, along with more reliable agent launching on Windows.

Highlights
  • Codex ACP conversations can switch between Default and Plan modes directly from the chat composer, with the selection remembered across sessions.
Fixes
  • Remote workspaces can connect over Tailscale SSH now that Unix socket forwarding works with compatible servers that use a non-OpenSSH identification banner.
  • Windows preserves native command lines when launching .cmd agent shims, so agents such as Pi start correctly when arguments contain spaces or quotes.
  • Saved ACP configuration options are cleared when an agent no longer supports them, preventing stale selections from being reapplied.

This small release focuses on reliability across remote development, Windows, and agent sessions.

Fixes
  • Remote ACP prompts no longer time out while an agent is working, and successfully delivered prompts no longer show a false failure or return to the composer.
  • Large prompts and dropped files are stored on the target machine so remote agents can access them reliably.
  • Windows project activation now handles drive-letter and UNC paths, with more reliable agent launching, shell detection, and process cleanup.
  • Workspace, worktree, and file paths are handled consistently on Windows, including directory selection, file opening, links, and symlinks.
  • The remote project directory picker stays responsive and no longer repeats loading cycles while navigating.
  • Project settings are preserved through transient read failures, and worktrees are no longer modified with Emdash-specific state.

Read full notes

This release introduces the new Emdash Workspace Server, bringing remote development much closer to the local Emdash experience. It also adds per-machine management for agent resources, file-content search, faster task creation, and a more capable and reliable chat UI for ACP agents.

Highlights
  • The Emdash Workspace Server brings remote projects on par with local development, including Git, files, terminals, agents, automations, file search, and preview forwarding.
  • Manage each machine independently, including its workspaces, conversations, agents, MCP servers, skills, dependencies, and resource usage.
  • Search file contents from the task sidebar with Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+F, jump directly to matching lines, and automatically reveal opened files in the file tree.
  • Tasks open faster, with non-blocking setup work continuing in the background. A new Activity menu shows worktree setup and lifecycle-script progress.
  • The ACP chat UI now keeps drafts and attachments across navigation and delivery failures, restores suspended conversations without disrupting chat, and remembers provider and session options.
Everything else
  • Open an existing workspace in a task instead of creating a new worktree.
  • Sort project tasks by last used or creation time.
  • Rename conversations and select multiple conversations for deletion.
  • The command palette now searches commands, files, conversations, projects, and tasks, while Settings has its own searchable navigation.
  • CodeBuddy is available as a coding agent, Claude adds Opus 5 while retaining Opus 4.8, and agent selectors show clearer capability icons.
  • PhpStorm is available in the Open In menu.
  • Project settings show where a new worktree will be created, and long lists such as Git remotes are searchable.
  • The app shows its window and branded loading state sooner, includes better startup recovery, and adds a system tray icon.
  • Project expansion preferences persist across restarts, and expanded projects use the open-folder icon.
Fixes
  • Pull request detection stays stable across refreshes and matches the exact head branch; staging remains responsive, diff paths stay checkout-relative, and branch commits no longer flicker.
  • Editor and diff scroll positions survive tab and task switches, the commit input no longer steals focus, and file reveal operations no longer time out during tree refreshes.
  • Chat execution text no longer clips, search labels are no longer duplicated, raw search queries are preserved, and file links open in the adjacent editor pane.
  • Sidebar shortcuts expand collapsed panels and keep working through overlays; the theme command is restored to the command palette.
  • New-task settings and GitHub identity details fit correctly in the modal, and auto-approve preferences persist.
  • Remote projects behave more reliably across reconnects and relinks, recover failed file watchers, and publish branches to the correct remote.
  • Terminal processes receive the user's environment without leaking worker settings, and terminal QR codes render without line gaps.
  • Windows title bars follow the app theme, and agent hooks work correctly on Windows.
  • Codex notifications and device authentication work again, and provider environment variables are applied correctly to ACP sessions.
  • Automation controls, project and settings layouts, markdown checkbox contrast, and other interface details have been polished.
